I still can't believe it's 20010! This song coming on my I-pod New years eve night ... this song is what I am hoping for this new year! I found this Video of the song and I wanted to share it with you.
Mission Adelante's annual Christmas party:
A New Step:
This was a great time and a lot of fun we had over 250 people fill Bethany Community Center on Dec 16 to celebrate the accomplishments of our ESL, Kids Adelante, and L.I.T. students.
I have been taking Spanish class and I am learning but slowly but need to try to be around more Spanish. I have been praying about if I should start going to the Mission Adelante in home small groups that are on Sunday nights. When Jarrett told us in one of our staff meeting that we where going to do all worship services for Sunday nights was this a sign from God and is this what I should do? I have been going to the Gathering serves at Heartland community church on Sunday night's and it's been a great time, it’s at now just blows me out of the water to see such a young generation with there hearts on fire for God and for the world. When I am at the gathering my heart and thoughts are all with the kids and the families that I work with. My heart is not good in two places, I made a exciting step to call my church home Mission Adelante. Our faith community has met together for Sunday Worship six weeks in a row since transitioning away from in-home small groups. It has been a positive change, as the continuity of gathering all together has allowed the community to become even more tightly-knit.
Teen Adelante:
On Wednesday Jan 27 was the kick off! It was a cool to see nine teens come to this. I got to lead worship for them and it made my heart jump for joy to hear them sing along and one of the girls asked if I could play Come now is the time to worship again. It's going to be fun to see how much God is going to work throw this and how much the teens are going to grow. I will be leading worship on every last Wednesday of the month.
LIT:
It's been a lot of fun working with these kids and seeing how much LIT is helping them
and I love seeing there hearts starting to grow so close to God and how they are really caring
for the world. When we were having are round with the kids one of them wanted to pray for the kids in Haiti it was moving to hear there prays for people they never knew and they just prayed from there hearts. Then they come up with a way to help so the L.I.T. students will hold a Bake Sale at the Mission Adelante facility next Thursday, February 4 at 8:30 p.m. Proceeds will be donated to World Vision for their earthquake relief effort in Haiti. please let me know if you would like to help them.
Leaders-In-Training students and volunteers celebrated accomplishments with two of their own students yesterday: Odalis earned her first "A" on a math test, and Gaby brought three awards to show off that she had received at school including one for academic improvement and two for good citizenship. These kinds of improvements are the gratification that our L.I.T. tutors find so rewarding!
I AM SO PROUD OF THERE KIDS!!
It's fun to be a cow:
I get to be a cow! I am not kidding I work at chick-fil-A I get to dress up as the cow ... it's been a lot of fun getting to do this job. This week I was able to bring the cow to Mission Adelante on Wednesday the cow come to LIT and then Thursday the cow came to kids Adelante. It was a great time to be the cow and hang out with the kids but the kids are very smart they knew it was me as the cow =) but I still tried to play it off.

Prayer needs:
- Please continue to pray for strength for the pregnant mother in our community that we described last week. She continues to cope with financial difficulty, the imprisonment of a brother and the serious illness of a sister, and her husband has now become absent from their home as well. Please pray that she will truly receive the Holy Spirit's comfort.
- Please pray for a Hispanic woman in our community who courageously left her job after suffering workplace abuse and sexual harassment over the course of a few years. Pray for God to allow her to find a new job where she'll be respected.
- Diapers, all sizes and any size package, for distribution through our Resource Center.
- Brown paper grocery sacks for the resource center. Volunteers: next time you buy groceries, why not ask for "paper" at the checkout and then bring the sacks with you the next time you come to the Mission?
- Volunteers to spend a couple of hours this week or next week sorting clothes in our Resource Center. Please call Molly Merrick at 913-961-2984 to line up your time.
